A band, made up of Wynton Senwelo, Kabelo Tamukate, Gomotsegang Rapoo and Andrew Chinganga, will accompany the trio.

Tour manager, Soares Katumbela, said that the trio has performed in Sweden and Germany at some point in time in their solo act capacity.   He explained that this would be the first time the three perform to the outside world as a group, with a band of their own.

“The Swedes and Germans were extremely impressed with the previous shows, which featured Botswana jazz singers on different occasions.  This gave me a chance to coordinate and organise a tour with some of the leading Afro-jazz singers in Botswana,“ Katumbela said.

In addition, Katumbela said that going on tour with a band affords the artists an opportunity to deliver top-notch acts, as they will perform to audiences with an ear for music.

He added that on previous occasions the artists went without a live band and had to do with the ones they found there.

He explained that the situation was a bit of a challenge because the bands had a hard time interpreting their music.

Katumbela clarified that Afro-Jazz Trio is a short-term union formed specifically for the tour. He said there are currently no plans to release an album under the group.

During their tour the trio will also facilitate music workshops.  In Sweden they are scheduled to perform in Stockholm and Goteborg while in Germany they will perform in Marbug, Lich and Habitzheim.

Afro Jazz Trio recently held their first concert at Botswanacraft where they performed alongside Ringo Madlingozi and Team Distant. The trio and their band are scheduled to return on October 13, 2014.
