Recently it was reported that Kwelagobe would play the lead role in Ya' Ma Afrika, a TV series that is set to be aired on the popular international cable 3A Telesud in Europe, USA, West Indies and West Africa. Ya Ma Afrika is a fictional drama portraying the lives of four African Women living in New York. It highlights the cultural experiences, contradictions and challenges of African women living in the West.
However, it is apparent that she will not play Kiki in a movie called 'When the Cobra Strikes', due to personal circumstances.
Her manager, Sean Johnson indicated in correspondence with one of the film directors that due to production timing, Kwelagobe has had to decline the offer as she is with a child.
It is said that she will not work until the last quarter of the year. Her mother could not be drawn into discussions of the progress of her daughter's career. 'I cannot answer for her, she is best placed to answer for herself,' she said.
The movie 'When the Cobra Strikes' is based on a novel written by Sebati Mafate - a Motswana based in the United States.
The novel is a tale of friendship, romance, betrayal, the seduction of fame and fortune, and the dark secret world of the martial arts. The main actor Sizwe Ryan Biko will play an American-educated South African.
He is also a two-time all Africa karate champion, who returns to the United States to finalise what appears to be a simple transaction that involves contraband that has to be smuggled through the airport amidst tight security.
Sizwe is double-crossed, and amidst the unfolding of events, which among other things includes being caught up in a bizarre love triangle; Sizwe has to face and overcome an opponent far more deadlier than he has ever met in the ring or on the streets - blindness.
