Yesterday, Botswana beat Namibia 49-36, just two days after overcoming Zimbabwe 41-38 in the first game.

They take on Uganda today in what is expected to be thrilling game, considering that Uganda are also yet to lose a game in the qualifiers.

Uganda beat Zambia 53-48 in their first game before they narrowly defeated Zimbabwe 43-42 yesterday.

Against Namibia yesterday, Botswana started off on a low note and with guests taking the lead on numerous occasions in the first quarter.

By the end of the first quarter, Namibia was leading 10-9. Botswana’s goal shooter, Tebogo Radipotsane managed to score six points while goal attacker, Portia Rasekhumba netted the other three.

Then the hosts picked up performance in the second quarter with Rasekhumba now giving the Namibians a torrid time with her runs eye for to score points.

Namibia however still did not give up and at times levelled points in the second quarter.

Botswana finished the second quarter leading 24-20.  At the end of the quarter, Rasekhumba had scored a total of 14 points while Radipotsane had scored the remaining 10. Botswana stretched the lead in the third and fourth quarters.

At the end of the third quarter, they were leading 36-28 and wrapped up the game with a 49-36 score line.

Radipotsane scored 17 points while Rasekhumba scored 32, setting up an interesting duel against Uganda today. Botswana coach, Seipei Gaelisiwe praised his players after the victory and pointed out that their aim is to finish at the top.

She said the players knew of the importance of winning these games and will take Uganda like any other game and aim for a victory.
