Kenyan Preacher calls for Churchs repentance

Prophet David Owuor

“Botswana has become the country where anyone can come from anywhere and set up a church, make lots of money and ship it back to their country,” he said.

He said it was shameful that the church was now receiving direction from the government, when it should be the one giving advice.

This, he said was because the Church had allowed too many tricksters and false prophets “onto the pulpit”.

“What kind of a man of God asks people to give a special amount of money for a special miracle?” he asked rhetorically.

Owuor said the time had come for the true Church to be cleansed of all lying and deceit.

“The gospel of prosperity and money has never been the right way to salvation. True salvation is when people genuinely come before the Lord Jehovah in repentance and live holy thereafter,” he said. “The decay in the church has to stop. The false prophets and pastors should stop demanding money from their members for them to pray for their healing or miracle,” he said.

Owuor called on the Church in Botswana to introspect so it could become relevant.

“The Church in Botswana must repent to be able to give direction to the nation and for revival to take place,” he said.

It was only when the church repented, he said, that it could lead the nation to repentance and a life of holiness.

Prophet Owuor, who paid for his travel and did not collect an offering, said he could not understand why some preachers would ask for thousands of Pula as down payment before they could accept invitations to preach.

He also called for modesty in dress and general behavior.

“It is wrong for young men to be walking around, and even coming to church with sagging trousers. It is wrong for women and young women to be coming to church with mini-skirts. The church is not a place to show your nudity and entice women or men, it is a holy place,” he said.

He said sexual immorality had become the order of the day in church as ministers had sexual exploits with church members, to the point some even impregnated women.

“The church has compromised enough. The Bible makes it clear man and woman cannot live like husband and wife if they are not married, yet church leaders have allowed that in the Church, and have even rewarded those members with leadership positions,” he said.

Owuor said apostasy had led the church to accepting homosexuality even on the pulpit, and a abortion as the norm.

“The Church has become numb to sin, and ministers are afraid to preach the uncompromised word of God because people will walk away. They have gathered unto themselves preachers who can sugar-coat their preaching.”

He said he expected some preachers to resist his teachings on repentance, holiness and righteousness, but for them to eventually join the repentance bandwagon, when God starts honouring the Church, and as they realise end of the times is near.

“Initially the church in Kenya would not understand this message. However since it began taking the message seriously there has been a mighty revival,” he said.

Owuor said once the Church repented and led righteous, holy lives where sin was completely abhorred, God would honour it with true miracles, signs and wonders.

Supernatural occurrences such as a huge ‘pillar-like” cloud descending into a stadium, and rain coming down within a minute of his bidding have been reported at some of his crusades around the world.
