Africa’s popular reality TV show, which was supposed to launch on September 7, 2014 was postponed following a fire incident.

Sasani Studios in Highlands, North Johannesburg where Big Brother Africa (BBA) was supposed to be hosted, was gutted by fire a few days before the show was to launch, leaving fans disappointed.

Followers of the show can now look forward to it, as M-Net has since announced that is has secured another location.

The announcement was made on Friday, but M-Net did not reveal where the new Big Brother house would be situated.

“M-Net and Endemol SA have spent the last 48 hours searching both locally and internationally for a venue in which to produce Season 9 of the highly popular Big Brother Africa reality show. After exploring all possible options, the team are delighted to announce that the show will go on as a venue has been found to get the show on air within the next month,” a press statement from M-Net states.

The release also stated, “A multitude of factors have had to be considered including the complex technical requirements, logistics, technical crews and satellite link facilities, which have all formed part of the challenge. However, M-Net is delighted to assure all its Big Brother fans that their favourite reality show will launch soon and thanks fans from across the continent for their support“.

Although it is the norm to keep the identity of the housemates a secret until the final day, reliable sources have told Showbiz that former Miss Universe Botswana Sheillah Molelekwa would be one of this season’s contestants. Sources have also revealed that the other local contender who will be part of the show is a young man known in the arts circles, as Jups. Last year Zibanani ‘DJ O’Neal’ Madumo and former beauty queen, Motamma Sesinyi, joined other housemates from other countries, in the show’s eighth season called Big Brother Africa - The Chase. Namibian housemate Dillish Matthews won The Chase.

Before O’Neal and Motamma, it was sisters Eve and Edith Maygilip who were part of the Star Game edition. Other previous contenders include Kaone Ramontshonyana who went to the house on two occasions, Zeus, Peo Sebotho, Tawani Lebani, Justice Motlhabani and Warona Setshwaelo.

This year the winner stands to walk away with $300,000.  The show, will air 24/7 for 91 days on DStv channels 198 and 199.  The show’s host will once again be Nigerian, IK Osakioduwa.
