“Six DJs namely Skul, RnR, Key Maker, Hero, Amstel and Kenn are going to battle it out for the top spot on the day,” DJ King said, adding that the host DJs are also going to perform on the night.

The host DJs of the event are DJ King, Leburu Gaepongwe also known as DJ 101, Laone ‘DJ Krazy’ Ditshego, who won the competition last year and DJ BIEPS.

He said that as usual, the competition has attracted people from Serowe/Palapye, Mahalapye/Shoshong and Tswapong areas although some of the competitors are currently based elsewhere.

“The show is going to start as early as 6 pm because we want to give all the DJs enough time to showcase their skills. We also want to be done by the time business closes so that we are able to judge the performance of all the DJs in the lineup,” DJ King said.

In the past, the police curfew has interrupted proceedings of the competition leading to rioting by the fans of the show.

The award-wining DJ said that although the contest has become one of the highlights in the Serowe entertainment calendar, it has failed to attract sponsorship.

He said that he has been sponsoring the show, with his business partner, Gaepongwe.

“We have knocked on every door to ask for sponsorship, but we have had no luck so far as we managed to attract only one sponsor,” he said, adding that Khama Rhino Sanctuary has also offered the eventual winner one night at the place.

The winner will also get an opportunity to perform at a national event in the tourist town of Maun and he will walk away with a P2,000 cash prize.
