Chiefs was unbeaten going into the encounter but Jerome Louis cracked home the winner after only four minutes to see Rollers stay second and critically shave their rivals’ lead. The encounter, played at a blistering pace saw Chiefs fluff a number of chances with Tendai Nyumasi’s first half penalty beaten away by goalkeeper, Mwampule Masule.

There was overwhelming evidence on the pitch that the two sides were set for another close fight for honours.

Unheralded BMC and Police XI remained in the leading pack after another fruitful weekend.  BMC caused shock waves with a clinical 4-0 demolition of last season’s runner-up’s, BDF XI, while the cops defeated promoted BR Highlanders.

Sankoyo Bush Bucks made the long trip to Molepolole and left deflated by a 1-0 loss to Rahman Gumbo’s Gaborone United.

The Maun side’s good start is fast fading after successive defeats has plunged them from second just a couple weeks back to 11th as Premier League reality strikes.

GU, meanwhile are on the recovery path after a shock opening day 3-2 defeat to Notwane. They are now fifth after taking their points tally to 10, just two off the pace.

Extension Gunners are enjoying a purple patch of their own after recording a second successive win. They edged troubled Notwane 1-0 and are now ninth with seven points. Alarm bells are ringing at Notwane where Innocent Morapedi watched his side record a fourth defeat in five games.

It is increasingly looking bleak for ECCO who remained rooted at the bottom with just one point as Orapa United won 1-0 in Francistown.
