Throwing in the towel: Nthaga quit Letlapeng on Saturday

Nthaga, took the Ramotswa side to the Premier League last season, but has found the going tough in the top tier.

Nthaga refused to reveal reasons for his resignation but said he intends to take a break from coaching. Letlapeng chairperson, Sydney Magagane said Nthaga’s resignation came as a shock to them. He said the coach told them he was leaving just hours after Letlapeng’s 3-1 loss to FC Satmos on Saturday.

Magagane said the management and technical team met last week to discuss the team’s poor run.

Letlapeng have won only one out of five games since the season started. Magagane said management was concerned results were not forthcoming and they were trying to establish the root cause in order to find a solution.

“I thought that we had an understanding with the coach, but for him to resign is a shock. He informed us that he has done his part and does not want to have a sour relationship with Letlapeng hence his decision to quit. I thought that if he had some unresolved issues, we could sit down and sort them out,” said Magagane.

He said if they knew what Nthaga wanted to make his job better such as getting an assistant coach, they could have assisted him.  Magagane noted that Nthaga has done well for the club and when he joined the side, players started attending training in good numbers  which led to them gaining promotion to the be MOBILE Premier League.  Magagane said the hunt for a head coach has started and they expect to have appointed someone by end of the week.  The club has been strongly linked with former TAFIC coach, Blessing Moyo.
