Wanted: Letlapeng were interested in Moyo as assistant coach

Letlapeng chairperson, Sydney Magagane told Mmegi Sport yesterday that they are still with Nthaga. He said the plan is to continue working with the coach who guided the team to its maiden appearance in the Premier League this season.

He said that coach has shown courage, hard work and commitment to the club and it is not advisable to drop him. Magagane denied reports that they have interviewed potential replacements.

He said the only vacant post at the club is that of technical director.

“We are currently busy trying to appoint someone to fill the post. It is not true that we have interviewed Blessing Moyo.

We wanted him to be the assistant coach sometime back but the deal did not go through because his terms were high,” said Magagane.

Meanwhile, Moyo said he did not take the assistant coach offer from Letlapeng because the salary was lower than what he wanted. Moyo is a former TAFIC coach.

He complained that being a coach is not an easy job because it comes with pressure and remuneration should be fair.

He said it is unfortunate that local teams are not financially stable to pay coaches well.  Moyo had a short stint at Mogoditshane Fighters last season although he did not sign a contract. Former Zebras and BDF XI coach, Stanley Tshosane is now at the helm at Fighters.
