Moroka, a former boxing referee, has a rich boxing resume’ while Patlakwe hopes lending BoBA his services in the past will earn him enough votes to take over.

Moroka is credited with retaining the Botswana Breweries Limited (Mooka Mageu) sponsorship for the just-ended national boxing championships. He has done the same with the Debswana Mining Company, who bankroll the BoBA awards.

He has said there is a local private company that has agreed to sponsor the Best of the Best Championships.

His other achievement is successfully roping women into the sport.

His challenger, Patlakwe, a medical doctor, has experience working with boxing organisations in the United States. His involvement in the sport has been largely through his medical expertise.

In the race for the vice-presidency, Gilbert Khunwane and Tabona Phalazi face-off. BoBA has combined the two vice presidents - administration and technical - into one post.

Former BoBA publicity secretary, Willoughby Kemoen intends to make a grand comeback as secretary general. His opponents are Dirang Thipe and Irene Ntelamo.

Kemoen is hailed for his strong communication skills at BoBA. He has vowed to revive boxing structures.

Former national team coach, Johannes Ditlhabang will take on former competition manager, Phetogo Tsheko in the race for the position of sports coordinator. Current BoBA spokesperson, Mmaotho Segotso is facing a challenge from Kenny Maragana, a former boxer and development coach.
