Moleofe who has become famous for waging his campaign on horse-back, was welcomed at a UDC rally as the party launched its parliamentary candidate for the constituency, Sedirwa ‘Chillieboy’ Kgoroba in Mogoditshane on Sunday.

“Tota kgang ke go ntsha Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) mo pusong eseng sepe gape. Ke ka moo ke boneng gole botoka gore ke thuse Kgoroba go lwantsha BDP,” meaning the issue is chiefly to remove the BDP from government, hence his decision to join the UDC.

Moleofe pledged to give Kgoroba his campaign materials to ensure he won and proceeded to give him his hat and one of his campaign horses. “All people who were supporting me will now be on your side. I have agreed with my supporters to vote for you. UDC is the answer to our problems. I do not think there is anything that could stop it from winning this constituency if we really join hands and work together as a team,” said Moleofe.

Meanwhile Kgoroba said it was time to vote for capable leaders as those found in the UDC. Kgoroba told the well-attended rally that an MP alone could not effectively tackle the challenges facing Mogoditshane.

“It needs the combined unity of Mogoditshane residents.  Not one person can overcome these challenges,” he said.

Kgoroba said if elected to parliament, he would form a leadership forum composed of the MP, councillors, kgosi and headmen.  The leadership forum would meet regularly to tackle the challenges facing the village.

There would also be another committee made up of professionals from the village.  This would be the villages’ think tank.

“As an MP, I can’t solve everything.  I need input from others,” the UDC candidate said.

Kgoroba said already they have 300 professionals who have committed themselves to contributing P100 every month to a development fund that he would establish.  He said the business community had pledged to contribute P50,000 every month.  He said the money would be controlled by the think tank. The money would be used in the education of out-of-school youth.  The UDC candidate said he would like to see Mogoditshane producing some of the best brains in this country.

“I am not promising any miracles.  I want to see our professionals bringing developments in our area,” he appealed.

Addressing himself to sports, Kgoroba, a former football player, said he wanted to see a Mogoditshane team dominating local football in 10 years’ time.

He said they had acquired a P500,000 sponsorship that would used to run football training courses. A sports development committee would be in place to ensure that, he said.

“We want to unveil sports stars like Amantle Montsho and Dipsy Selolwane,” he told the rally. The UDC parliamentary candidate for Goodhope/Mabule constituency James Mathokgwane said Mogoditshane residents must by now have realised that someone of area MP Patrick Masimolole’s calibre could not be trusted and that was why they now had to vote for Kgoroba.

“He only defected back to BDP after he was promised a lot of things. He sold Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD)’s soul.   Masimolole has failed this constituency that is why there is a lot of unemployment in the area. He is only thinking of himself,” Mathokgwane said. The UDC president Duma Boko who launched Kgoroba and his council candidates requested Mogoditshane resident to vote in large numbers.  He said Kgoroba was a true leader who had done a lot for Mogoditshane.

“Kgoroba is the one who introduced football in Mogoditshane. Football teams now employ some of the youth. He has played a good role in the life’s of people in this area,” Boko said.
