Hotspurs off to winning start

Former Uniao Flamingo Santos’ utility player, Tillie Setlhaku scored the only goal of the match from the spot to give Amahot three valuable points away from home.

Hotspurs piled early pressure, putting Tonota on the backfoot with Gideon Kudu and Setlhaku dictating proceedings. The homeside was pinned in its half and the pressure paid when Koziba Gibson used his hands to block Setlhaku’s effort that appeared headed for the net.

The referee pointed to the spot and a confident stepped forward to finish the job, sending goalkeeper Olebile Elias the wrong way for the only goal of the match. After the goal, the tempo of the match slowed.

Tonota pulled out an ineffective Robert Modise in the 30th minute in a bid to breathe some life into the team but this did not bear the fruits. Soon after the break, Tonota introduced Jonathan Mbila and Keabetswe Sediga for Keoagile Botshelo and Edwin Gasha respectively. The two made their presence felt but Amahot defended well.

With Tonota piling pressure for an equaliser, Hotspurs resorted to delaying tactics in the dying minutes.
