Furthermore, there are allegations that residents live in fear of the presidential guards.  The following questions were forwarded to the OP and BDF, but were not answered.

1. Are you aware of allegations of intimidation (and/or threats) by the presidential guards, and are Botswana Defence Force officers stationed at the compound?

2. How many BDF officers have been deployed at Mosu?

3. When do you expect the construction of the airstrip to be completed?

4. It has been established that President Khama’s compound at Mosu was initially allocated as a commercial lodge.  Has it been converted into a private home? If yes, when? If no, why is it that the President is using the plot as a residential place?

Government spokesperson, Dr Jeff Ramsay flatly refused to answer the questions referring all enquiries to the President’s private office.  Efforts to talk to Khama’s top aide, Brigadier George Tlhalerwa, were unsuccessful as his phone rang unanswered.

Messages sent to his private cellphone were also not replied.  The BDF public relations unit also refused to comment referring all enquiries including basic questions about the personnel at the construction site to OP.
