Ready for First Division: TAFIC

Ready for First Division: TAFIC

After being relegated from the Premier League last season, TAFIC will begin life with a trip to a Kasane resort where they face promoted side, Kazungula Young Fighters.

It will be a new look outfit as some of the players have been released in order to control the wage bill in the less lucrative First Division.

TAFIC have already signed a few players including goalkeeper, Omphile Koogotsitse, from lower division side Mexican Dogs.

Defender Gofamodimo Kobe, who was in Orapa United books last season, has also been signed for what will be his second stint with the team.

Rookies, Tsabotlhe will host Miscellaneous, who were relegated from the elite league last season, in Serowe.  Both sides meet for the first time in the Serowe First Division derby.

Miscellaneous are expected to parade new players in the off-season having lost the likes of Segolame Boy who was arguably Township Rollers’ most prized asset. Tonota FC, who experienced mixed fortunes last season, ended up finishing just above the relegation zone, which welcomed Mahalapye Hotspurs who enjoyed a good run though finishing third.

Maun Tigers, who had a disappointing campaign, will host Palapye All Stars who have made a few signings in a bid to win automatic promotion to the elite league tomorrow.

All Stars will be looking to continue where they left off last season after finishing fifth in their debut season. In what could be the fixture of the weekend, Great North Tigers (GNT) will on Sunday host another Francistown side, TASC FC. Both former Premier League teams have endured a torrid time in recent years though TASC finished mid-table last season.

Both clubs strengthened their squads in the off-season and an exciting match is in the offing. Green Lovers host Amakhosi in Serowe in the other Sunday fixture.
