Fashion programme to mentor aspirants

The event is scheduled to begin tomorrow and run through to Sunday. Jadark Kuvan through Fashion Mentor, aims to train aspiring designers and models, and also guide them to find their stand in the field of fashion.

“This programme also gives them a platform to showcase their designs and talent on a higher level and an opportunity to penetrate the market. It shows them the direction they need to move towards in order to succeed. The fashion mentor programme utilises the skills and experiences of established designers and models, those who have been in the industry and have made their mark.  Our aim is to have many renowned designers of the world originating from Africa, Botswana. If the knowledge is instilled at a tender age, and the opportunity is granted, then the outcome of a very successful fashion industry in Africa more so Botswana is inevitable,” he said.

The spring/summer show themed Wearable Avante Garde, starts on Friday, featuring designs by aspiring designers. The designers will be competing for the number one spot to be announced at the end of the night.  The next day will feature designs by established designers, including Junior Khupe, Candida Tsheko, Judith Matola, Theorag, Tlhalefang Mooketsi, Kaone Moremong, and Bonweb. Sunday will be a day for stylists, who will be showing the public how to mix and match.  The show will also feature performances by Sabade, Lyrish Mills, Mbazi, Mars K and Playboy.
