Limkokwing to hold graduation ceremony

When welcoming media at the graduation briefing yesterday, acting Vice Chancellor Dr Raphael Dingalo said Limkokwing University, which has been operating under a letter of interim authority has been granted full licence to operate as a university.

Limkokwing University will release 945 ready professionals expected to enhance Botswana’s economic landscape with the most creative, innovative and techo-savvy solutions to fulfil industry needs. Regional director of Corporate and Media Relations Mercy Thebe revealed that the guest of honour will be Vice President Dr Ponatshego Kedikilwe, who will also be awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Leadership.

 “The university recognises Dr Kedikilwe’s leadership ability in strengthening the national economy through the building of Botswana’s economy that has included effective use of national resources,” she said.

Dr Kedikilwe will be the third citizen from Botswana to receive an Honorary Doctorate from Limkokwing University worldwide, after former president Festus Mogae, who received an honorary doctorate in 2008 and Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi who received an honorary doctorate in human capital development in 2012. Thebe noted that the university has awarded various Honorary Doctorates to reverred individuals like the late former South African president Nelson Mandela, South African president Jacob Zuma, Malaysia Prime Minister Dato’Sri Mohd Najib Tun haji Abdul Razak, Lordship Baron Sheikh of the United Kingdom and King Mswati III of Swaziland. Thebe added that out of the graduates, 21 will be presented with awards of excellence, under the categories of innovation, leadership qualities, creativity and academic ability.

 “Awards are meant to recognise the students who have made special contributions to the university. The recipients recognised here are selected for their participation in events, competitions, academic excellence and other occasions on and off campus. Some of these awards are accompanied by special recognition benefits which will be revealed during the graduation,” she noted.

The founder and global president of Limkokwing University, Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato Sri Paduka Dr Limkokwing, local ministers and other dignitaries are expected to attend the graduation.
