The issues around Bakgatla bogosi affected every mokgatla and no one should pretent to be disinterested. “Whether you are related to the chief or not, all must jointly fight for Kgafela. Remember that he is our chief”, he said amidst ululations.

The Parliamentary candidate for Mochudi East Isaac Davids did not waste time when he took the floor and urged Bakgatla to do anything to protect their chief. He said all Bakgatla must join hands and fight for Kgafela, adding that all Bakgatla were related to Kgafela.

“Even in his book The King’s journal, Kgafela mentions close friends who are not from the royal family and no one can claim that people who are fighting for Kgafela are not related to him”, he said. Davids urged Bakgatla to even raise funds to assist their chief.

“If anything we will contribute for him”, he said. Davids is mentioned in the King’s Journal as a businessman affectionately known as “Fokkon Bastard” and he is one of Kgafela’s closest tribesmen who went to hunt for a leopard in preparation of Kgafela’s installation. Kgafela was also at one point David’s lawyer.  Davids was also friends with the late Kgosi Linchwe II, (Kgafela’s father).

The UDC leader Wynter Mmolotsi shared the same sentiments and urged Bakgatla to unite and fight for Kgafela. He said Bakgatla would only achieve this by voting out BDP, come October 24.  Mmolotsi said it was clear that BDP candidate Unity Dow had dumped Kgafela and Bakgatla should punish her atthe general elections.

“You are a tribe that respects itself, now you will punish BDP,” said Mmolotsi.

Parliamentary hopeful Mangole said this rival Unity Dow had insulted him when she said during the Kgatleng Radio Botswana (RB1) that people who were making noise about the bogosi issue, including him (Mangole) were not members of the royal family.

Mangole informed UDC supporters that his grandfather was from the royal family, which meant he was a nephew in the Pilane family.

Mangole said Botswana was a lost country under president Ian Khama compared to former presidents Sir Ketumile Masire and Festus Mogae. He said that even some BDP Member of Parliament (MPs) were not happy about the current regime and wished Batswana vote UDC.

“These BDP MPs also want their party to loose so that they can take a break and build their party from scratch,” he said.
