The organisers provided an outdoor stage where artists were able to perform to the multitudes that attended the show.  The artists performed during the weekend when attendance is usually at its peak.

Fairground Holdings chief executive officer, Mike Montshiwa, said with over 60,000 visitors at the fair every year, this was a rare opportunity for musicians to showcase their talent.

The popular Btv music programme, Mokaragana also shot on location.

BOMU secretary general, Pagson Ntsie, said that partnership with Fairground Holdings was a welcome development.  He said after revamping their image, companies are recognising the association.

Ntsie said they brought artists to perform at the show while Fairground Holdings provided the stage.  He said this was the first time that they were given this opportunity.

Ntsie said artists did not only get the exposure but also used the platform to market their music.  He said they were provided with a stall to sell their CDs.

“Most of our artists cannot afford to rent a stall at the fair.  They are also happy with this gesture.  It is for the first time that most of them performed here,” he said.

One of the artists who performed at the fair on Saturday was gospel singer, Rago Lebogang, of Bakaulengwe.  He said he was so grateful for the opportunity that he was given.  “I am so happy.

The organisation is so good.  The audience welcomed me.  Some of these people are from all over the country,” Lebogang said.

He feels that the opportunity is going to market him.  “I am expecting calls,” he said.

The Mogoditshane-based gospel singer utilised the opportunity to announce to the audience that his latest album will be on sale this month.

The opportunity was extended to both upcoming and established artists.  Other artists who performed at the fair included Captain Dira, Slizer, Tyte, K-Boss, Zolani, Vee, DJ Fondo Fire and several other groups.

For some artists like Captain Dira and Slizer it was quite a hectic weekend as they also staged shows at the Ministry of Health’s Youth Against Alcohol and Drugs campaign road show, which was also held at the fair.
