A game between Botswana and Namibia

The four-nations tournament featuring hosts Botswana, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Namibia started on Friday with all teams going for the kill to make sure that they win the first games.

Botswana without most of its players because of the examinations, started with Mozambique at Oval A in an interesting game. Led by Thapelo Modise and Goabilwe Matome, the Botswana girls proved too tough for the visitors.

Modise put pressure on Mozambique and grabbed three wickets to become player of the match. The partnership of captain Shameelah Mosweu and Matome’s gave Botswana 19 runs from 29 balls. In the second match, Botswana scored 139 for four in 30 overs to overhaul Namibia’s 138 runs. It was again the batting of Mosweu, the young Modise and Matome that tormented the Namibians. Their hard, low and thunderous balls were not easy for the visitors. Botswana’s fast bowler, Jacqueline Kgang was chosen the best player of the match. In other games at BCA Oval B, Zimbabwe was too hot for Namibia and Mozambique. Yesterday Zimbabwe defeated Botswana in the last game to win the tournament, while Namibia won against Mozambique to sit on third position.
