They beat Notwane in the next game and last Saturday, they travelled to Maun to slay debutants, Sankoyo Bush Bucks who had won their first two matches. The performance sent a clear message to other Premier League rivals that Police XI means business.  Their opponents this weekend, Nico are yet to lose but have drawn two games and won one against Selebi-Phikwe rivals, FC Satmos last weekend. Tomorrow’s game between Nico and Police XI will once again see two local coaches, Kenneth Mogae and Maitumelo Lotlaamoreng square up.  Mogae has proved himself as one of the most experienced local coaches, having led Boteti Young Fighters before serving as the assistant coach of the Zebras.

Lotlaamoreng on the other hand has been at the helm of Wonder Sporting (now Police XI) during their time in the Second and First Division. He took over as the head coach from Sthanda Mogwadi, whom he deputised last season.

Maitumelo Lotlaamoreng (Police XI coach): “I have not watched Nico United this season but their results show that they are a tough side. We should not take them lightly. We will go out and give our best like in all the other games. The arrival of Ndiyapo Letsholathebe has contributed a lot to the current team’s performance because he is an experienced player and guides these young players.”

Blue Same (Nico assistant coach): “We have not had the best of pre-season and we have new players so we are still trying combinations. Our defence has not been bad as evidenced by the number of goals conceded so far. The only problem has been upfront but we are working on that. We will give Police XI respect because they have been playing well but our aim is to collect maximum points in this game.”

At Selebi Phikwe Stadium tomorrow, Satmos will host the on-form, BMC. Like Police XI, BMC have won two games and drew one despite the problems they faced in pre-season. BMC lost several key players and were reportedly on the verge of giving away their status in the Premier League until Kelesitse Gilika arrived as the new chairman. They have since managed to retain some of the players who were on their way out. Sageby Sandaka and Boitshoko Zikhale have remained at BMC while Kenanao Kgetholetsile returned after spending a season at Rollers. The club has brought in Kaelo Kgaswane, Kabo Rasuping and Mathews Moruti from Gaborone United (GU) on loan. They face Satmos who have not had the best start unlike last season. Satmos have won one game and lost two.  In other games tomorrow, Sankoyo welcome log leaders, Mochudi Centre Chiefs in Maun in what could be the rookies’ biggest test so far. Chiefs have been in rampant form and are yet to drop points. GU take on struggling ECCO City Greens in Molepolole after registering their first victory against Letlapeng last Sunday. ECCO have lost all their three games and face a daunting task of finding a winning formula after an exodus of key players at the end of last season.

On Sunday, Motlakase Power Dynamos and Orapa United square off in Selebi-Phikwe while Letlapeng take on Extension Gunners at the SSKB. Tonight, Rollers will be away to BR Highlanders in Selebi-Phikwe. Notwane host BDF XI in Molepolole. All the games kick off at 3.30pm except tonight’s match.
