Dithubaruba slated for September 6

This year’s cultural festival is themed ‘Botswana Pele: Maropeng Go A Boelwa.’ Dithubaruba spokesperson, Tlamelo Letlole, said the festival will feature several activities including; cultural dances, poetry, tasting of traditional food and participation in playing traditional games. He said only the best Kweneng groups will provide entertainment. Groups scheduled to perform at the event include Dipela Tsa Ga Kobokwe and Kwena Madiba Cultural Group who will serenade with Sekwena Phathisi.

Kgabo Sereto from Thamaga will perform the Tsutsube dance.

The audience will also be treated to cultural performances by Botswana Defence Force (Mogoditshane), Makanyane Cultural Group, Honey Polka (Kanye), Rangers Marena (Artesia), Lesedi choir (Gabane), Phokeng Cultural Group (Rustenburg), and Dr Vom. Also on the line-up is Solly Sebotso, Sibongile Kgaila, poets Rabojalwa Keetile, who themes his poems around chieftainship, and Kaone “Stopper” Mahuma.

Letlole explained that after all the performances, Setapa sa Mokwena performers will take over.

He noted that Setapa sa Mokwena is a dance done by the elderly. Amongst the groups expected to perform are; Phala tsa Setse from Ramakgatlenyane, Maditshukudu, Baditshukudu, Motshitshi wa Suping and Semarule. Letlole also said the event will feature traditional games, including koi, mmele, dibeke, morabaraba and rwabi. He noted that the festival would continue until 10 a.m. the next morning.

The festival will also feature presentation of Dikgafela led by Mohumagadi Mmatumagole, the wife of Kgosikgolo, Kgari III.

Another interesting feature will be∆ a demonstration of a traditional Sekwena wedding.
