The group says private twerks are against their principles and it destroys their image. Black diamonds twerk queens is comprised of four energetic young women in their early 20s. They are Claudette ‘C- Base’ Terese, Portia ‘Porsche’ Motsumi, Yolanda ‘Yolie’ Ponka and Tumisang ‘Tammia’ Bayford.

The four twerkers told Showbiz that they have encountered men masquedering as fans, who ask for private twerk sessions in exchange for money. One of the dancers, Porsche, said after performances some men harrass them and ask for private sessions but they are against that because it’s likely to culminate with clients asking for sexual favours, which they aren’t keen on. She further said the unsavoury actions by certain fans has resulted in them leaving  the venue immediately after their perfomance, to avoid encounters with revellers sexually aroused by their raunchy dance moves.

However, the group makes exceptions for bachelorette parties.  “This is our way of empowering women. We teach them what kind of moves they can do to impress their men,” said Porsche.  Another group member C- Base stated some people view twerking as a sexual act yet it is a normal dance variation like rhumba, for example. She noted that they prefer to perform at venues which offer tight security to avoid contact with revellers.

The four members perform dressed in boob tubes, twerk pants or jumpsuits, and high heels.  Black Diamond twerk group has performed at different events such as the Kosher hip-hop night sessions and the No strings Attached tour.  They currently appear as video vixens in the video of DJ Gouvea’s new track Hamba.
