Francistown Mayor, James Kgalajwe, who pioneered the FIF2014 as well as the city’s Vision 2022 exuded confidence as he strutted to the podium to address the full first day of the five-day last ordinary council meeting Monday.

He said that he is positive that they managed to sell the city and the greater Francistown region to both local international investors.

He encouraged all stakeholders in Francistown and the greater Francistown region to be part of the vision.

“The main purpose of the inaugural event was to focus on the development and investment opportunities of the greater Francistown.

“We also wanted to share strategies and structures aimed at creating a conducive investment climate in this region and strive to project and position the city and the region as the lead economic hub in Southern Africa by 2022,” he said.

Kgalajwe further said that there is something for everyone in the city of Francistown.

“Council has taken a step forward in its investment plans as the theme depicts,” said the mayor.

He further stated that as a way of progress they have even registered a company on behalf of the council called Moiplek Holdings (Pty) LTD.

The name is one of the names that was chosen by the councillors in a past full council meeting.

“It is now up to the council to use this company to unlock the opportunities that were revealed at the forum,” he stated.

The mayor also touched on the issue of the mayor’s fund saying that it is one other milestone achieved by the council and at the moment the fund has P118, 010.63.

“The charity fund continued to solicit funds from donor agencies and individuals in order to assist the less privileged members of the society,” he said.

He said that they have not been able to help anyone yet because the board that is supposed to administer has not been appointed yet.

Kgalajwe went on to bid farewell to the council as this is the last full council meeting before the elections.

He said that he is thankful for the confidence that they had in him and that the spirit of trust and togetherness that the councillors displayed continuously enabled him to lead the council.
