Two groups of participants came to Botswana, with the first group of 90 arriving on August 2 and starting the programme on August 3-8 before they made way for another batch of graduates who jetted in on August 9.

This programme forms part of the Barclays One Africa strategy that aims to promote young talent in the region.

The development programme is conducted in partnership with one of the world’s leading managements schools; Duke University, South Africa. It is conducted in four  phases of concentrated learning and interaction over the African geography. Since its inception the programme has produced over 400 graduates in Barclays Africa, seven of them are from Botswana.

Barclays believes that this programme will promote the One Africa strategy around talent development, and that it is through this forum that they can further position Botswana as a conduit for investment into the rest of Africa through the multi-national expansion programme that helps customers and clients to invest in areas outside our borders.

“It also provides us with a great opportunity to promote our culture and heritage, and position Botswana as the shining example of democracy in Africa,” said Barclays in a statement.
