Gaborone International Music and Culture Week begins

The week being the first of its kind, safe for Maitisong Festival, opens on Wednesday with a poetry show at Botswanacraft.  The lineup boasts of acts including renowned poet TJ Dema, Mandisa Mabuthoe, Poet Circle, and Motsepe.

Thursday will bring choral music lovers a treat to a night of sweet melodies, as some of the best choirs are billed to perform at Mantlwaneng (Westwood School).

Performers on the night will include Adante Choir, Gaborone Youth Singers, and Sedibeng Choir.

Those seeking to laugh their lungs out will have a choice of comedy night scheduled for Friday at Gaborone Sun. The lineup includes acclaimed comedian, Michael ‘Dignash’ Morapedi, Pule, Mashabane, Galane and Mod.

Music lovers will have a treat on Saturday, with a rich lineup of local and South African artists at the National Stadium.

Musicians scheduled to perform at the event are Zahara (RSA), Judith Sephuma (RSA), Donald (RSA), Vee, Euri, Zeus, Wizards, Charma Girl, Benson Phuthego, Team Distant, Lecco, Ozi F Teddy, Mafitlhakgosi, Tshetlha Ya Dikgwa, MMP Family, Wizards, Letso Omtaka, DJ Sly, DJ La Timmy, House Junkies comprising of Lesedi ‘Spinz’ Mogowe, Kabo Stomps, Kago ‘Bush’ Mokanyole, and Trevor ‘Archduke’ Moatlhodi.

The final show will be on Sunday at Botswanacraft, in the form of a jazz festival, featuring Shane Cooper, Hellen, Lister Boleseng, Eugene Jackson, and Our Band.
