The eight-year-old popularly known as Ro’Dizzy recently stunned multitudes during her father, Diphetogo Dipsy Selolwane’s, testimonial match. She walked onto the pitch to perform a dedication song to her father.

Some of the touching lyrics to the song reads, “All his fans may call him Dipsy, Ro’Dizzy I call him daddy/He’s the one who makes me breathe/He’ll be the only man I see”, brought the retiring legend to tears.

Rutang has since told Showbiz that she wrote the song two days before the event.

“My mother asked me if there was anything special I want to do for him on his day, and I told her that I want to sing for him.  I had no idea what to write.  I wrote a few lines down and was assisted with the rest by my mother,” she said.

Sometimes confused for a boy because of her resemblance to her father, Ro’Dizzy first appeared on MAD as a dancer.  She said she has loved music from a tender age.

She told Showbiz that the song titled, A Dedication Song For You Daddy, is just a sneak peak into what she intends to do with her musical life.  She said although her mother said that she is too young to release an album, she intends to do a single soon.

“Although my mother supports me greatly on my other talents and interests, she is very strict when it comes to school work.  I want to release an album very soon, but she says that I should concentrate on school for now,” she said.

On how she handles celebrityhood, Ro’dizzy said, “it is always a different experience when I go out to the malls.  At times I am given money, but most times people stop me to take pictures with me.  I take it from my mother, I think I got my mother’s personality and my fathers energy,” she said.

When asked what was the first thing that came into his mind when she surprised him at the stadium, Selolwane said: “I did not cry, but I was almost in tears. It is one of those proud father moments.”

Selolwane said he later went through the lyrics and realised that the song tells a story of his life and was over the moon to learn that his daughter appreciated the road that he has travelled in his career.

More of the lyrics read; “He’s a man who plays with passion/ true baller/ he’s a man of action/ ‘97 Gaborone United/ That’s where my daddy resided/ In the US Chicago Fire/ Real Salt Lake he played there too/ But Africa was home for you/...Santos, Cosmos, Ajax, Tux, Supersport United daddy made bucks/ He’s a man with a golden shot/ U-Turn my daddy is Hot/ When I was a baby you were barely there/ Travelled almost everywhere/ But I saw you on TV, “mom look, there goes my daddy”/ But I didn’t think you were whack/ Like the No.11 I got your back/ Zebras I love the games/ Set it on fire when you came/ You will always be in my heart/ You were there from the start.”
