On Saturday, Bush Bucks travelled to Selebi-Phikwe where they beat hosts FC Satmos 2-1. Bush Bucks won their debut Premier League match 2-1 against visiting  Motlakase.

The teams’ positive run has been met with euphoria in Maun.  Although Bush Bucks is not the biggest team in Maun, soccer lovers in Ngamiland are rallying behind it because it has achieved what established sides like Maun Tigers and Maun Terrors have failed to do over the years. To residents of Ngamiland, the team represents their aspirations.  Bush Bucks is the first team in North West to play in the Premier League and on Saturday at Pony Bar, revelers were celebrating the fact that ‘Ngururu’ was leading the log.  But that was before Mochudi Centre Chiefs walloped BDF XI 4-2 to take over pole position. “We are now waiting for Police XI for our game at home,” warned one of the jubilant supporters.

However, officials of the team have cautioned that it is not yet time to celebrate.  To them, it would be suicidal to become complacent at the early stage of the league. Bush Bucks spokesman, Thato Molosi said there is still room for improvement and their intention is to work hard.  He said they intend to sign a central defender and left back this week and their plan is to survive relegation before fighting for titles next season.

Molosi said they want to collect maximum points in the early games before fatigue catches up with them. He said they are looking forward to play their second game before their home ground against Police XI on Sunday.

There has been concern in the soccer fraternity that Bush Bucks are going to be affected by long distance it will travel to honour fixtures. Club officials have been appealing for sponsors to help meet the huge costs of travel among others.
