The duo, worked who with Vee for five years until 2007, have reunited to make music together. Their new single has three house tracks, which include the title-track Cherry, and Mistress. The two are adamantly convinced that they have no trace of their former boss’s musical flair.

“He does House-kwasa and we do pure House so our style is not influenced by his music,” Mshinto told Showbiz.

But they aren’t hesitant to emphasise that they are grateful for the exposure they got while working with one of Botswana’s most successful musicians, Vee.

“The experience of working with Vee was good, we toured the world with him. We have been across the country and to places like Namibia, South Africa and United Kingdom. We learnt a lot in the industry; how tough it is and how one can penetrate it. He taught us quite a lot,” Mshinto said. Their single is already opening doors for them as they have a slot in the upcoming Gaborone International Music and Culture Week performances line-up next week. The two are thrilled to be part of the festival to be held next Saturday. “We are so happy, it shows things are going the right way for us.”

After the Gaborone festival, the duo will start preparing for a show in Maun, penciled for September 30. They are happy with the reception of their music so far and hope featuring Vee, who remains their idol, in their next project, will position them better in the music market.

Mshinto admits that their strength is in dancing and believes this sets apart their productions from other artists. They will spice up their musical performances with some theatre dance moves on stage and pledge to maintain the energy that made them popular during their days as Vee’s back-up dancers. The biggest challenge facing the duo is piracy which they decided to combat by utilising digital distribution.
