Double Jay to claim spot with Most Wanted

The song, released a few months ago, is currently enjoying rotation on radio stations. The budding artist said that he has finished shooting the video for the song and is scheduled to play on Btv’s popular music show, Flava Dome this week.
“I have realised that nowadays people are attracted to visuals, so we have shot a video of the song and hopefully my fans are going to be able to watch it,” said the 31- year-old from Tshosa Ward in Serowe.
The video was shot in a number of locations in Serowe, Gaborone and Johannesburg, South Africa.
He told Showbiz that he has been in the music industry for a long time and in the past has either been a supporting act, or has done collabo’s with famous artists such as Atlasaone ‘ATI’ Molemogi and Kabelo ‘DJ King’ Motlhankana, who are his homeboys. “I believe the time has come for me to show the world that I am one of the best, talented hip hop artists in Botswana. That’s why I called my single Most Wanted. I am confident I am gifted enough to be one of the leading artists in the country,” Double Jay said. He added that in the past, the hip hop scene in the country was very much alive, but of late its popularity has slowly been waning.
He fondly remembers a time when artists like Stagga put the country on the map with their commercial hip hop and said sadly there was no continuity.
He said that he belongs to a new crop of artists that are going to resurrect the genre in the country.
Despite his dream of finding fortune and fame as quickly as possible, there have been hiccups.
“One of the things that has been hindering my single from playing on government radio stations is that I don’t have a hologram as yet, but I am working on that. Once I have put the hologram on my CDs, many (more) Batswana will be able to hear the single,” he said.
Double Jay is currently working on a full album, which he hopes to release next April. For now, in an endeavour to win more fans, the artist is working on another single, which will be simultaneously released with a video before the beginning of the festive season.
