Bank Gaborone supports sports development

The HGRYL was created to assist disadvantaged youth through sports development.

This year, Bank Gaborone adopted Smoden, an Under-15 team from Mogoditshane with a sponsorship of P5, 000, which covered the team kit with a sponsor’s logo, meals for the opening and finals and final gifts.

The boys played with enough heart and soul to earn them bronze medals as they finished third.

“We are grateful for the sponsorship from Bank Gaborone.  “It is because of donations like these that we can improve the quality of football for young enthusiasts. “This is to give them opportunities to better their skills as they aim towards national and international status,” said Haskins director, Andrew Field.

Meanwhile the TAC, an initiative by Time Projects and Rotary, raised funds for the Mochudi Resource Centre for the Blind through a race that involved cycling and running held at Mokolodi Nature Reserve.

Bank Gaborone sponsored a relay team to the tune of P1, 200.

The centre has contributed significantly to promoting education of children with visual challenges through its residential and rehabilitation programmes.  Bank Gaborone continued its contribution to sports development by being the main sponsors for the North versus South Under-13 soccer tournament that took place from July 25-26 at Broadhurst Primary School.

The tournament was organised by the Southern CHOPS Sports Association (SCSA), which is an association of private primary schools that champion sports talent amongst the youth.

“Our service to Botswana goes beyond our banking halls and in whatever measure we can show support to our community.

“At Bank Gaborone, we are glad to do it. We hope this will be the beginning of a fruitful relationship with TAC initiative and the HGRYL.

“We want to see our assistance grow and materialise in the respective communities,” explained Sandra Mokobi, Bank Gaborone marketing and communications manager.
