NEDC region aims for another victory

Oupa Masesane the regional director for operations in the MoESD in North East region told Mmegi in an interview this week that their preparations towards this year’s examinations were ongoing.

Last year NE region scooped position one countrywide in the PSLE results with about four schools passing with 100 percent. The only school that performed poorly in the region was Matopi primary school with 50 percent, which in other districts was a pass.

Masesane said that since last year after receiving the 2013 results they have been focused and keeping the record for the highly performing students and monitoring their pass marks.

He said that their target this year in the PSLE results is 90 percent, from last year’s 80 percent.

He said that they have been monitoring schools through regular visits, monitoring the learners, teachers and school management and they set themselves targets that they are currently working on. They also visited all schools from primary to senior secondary schools, getting feed back from learners.

“We did not want them to feel like the evaluation was a punishment but to realise that the students? results is our responsibility and we should take part as teachers and they have been working hard, “ he said.

He said that they also have another strategy of projects plan in which they evaluate every stage of the student’s projects because in the past some students had to write their examinations without completing their projects.
