The demonstrators marched from the Mosque in Extension Four to Parliament to publicise their cause. After they failed to meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Phandu Skelemani who was not available they marched to Ministry of Education offices to submit their petition.

Human rights lawyer, Alice Mogwe said they are deeply concerned about the killings in Gaza and they want Botswana to state its stand concerning the brutal conflict. “Botswana has distanced itself from what is happening between Israel and Gaza,” said Mogwe.

She said through international relations, Botswana can help advocate for peace. “We want the government of Botswana to clearly state its position concerning the fights,” she said.

Receiving the petition on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, acting Education Minister, Mokgweetsi Masisi said they would consider the request. “I have received the petition and be assured that it will be considered. I would like to assure you that you are well protected in articulation of your rights,” he told the demonstrators.
