Ketshotseng combines poetry with painting

Painter Kenny Ketshotseng proved Plutarch’s words true on Saturday when he hosted a poetry session at his residence in Tlokweng where a host of young upcoming poets showcased their skills in his art-decorated studio.

Ketshotseng is one of the most promising young talents and has participated in various exhibitions where his works would hugely applauded.

In the process he has made friends with varying interests and passions.

“Some people who visit me would be interested in poetry and often when they recite these poems I get inspired. They display good potential and I would feel they need platform to express themselves and develop their trade further,” he told Showtime.

The setting at the event was simply artistic. Right from the gate, a visitor was welcomed by art inspired decoration, short candles burning inside containers made of translucent paper that radiated softly into the walking path.

Into the spacious living room, one would be greeted by another set of lowly burning candle positioned around a clay pot.

Red, yellow and blue strings protruded from the pot straight to the ceiling.

This created a good artistic impression, the strings appeared like sun rays just before dawn on a warm summer morning.

In the large double garage where the real activity was taking place, the guests were treated to the magical words of poetry in a space filled with the host’s various artworks.

Youngsters like Teto Seitshero, Otto Jensen and B Kay 94 gave the small crowd many reasons to cheer with their motivational poems. But it was Kingsley Dimbungu who took matters to the rooftop with his Caribbean style performance in which he paid tribute to ‘The African Woman’.
