The man who made his name through the Sunday evening drama series died this past Thursday after what the Botswana Police Service (BPS) spokesperson deems as a short illness.

The officer who joined the BPS two decades ago was one of the pioneers of Itshireletse and has participated in a number of productions for the docudrama. In a press statement from Christopher Mbulawa, Nkomo was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2008.

“ Inspector Nkomo was also part of the Itshireletse group that was awarded the Presidential order of Meritorious Service Award in September 2012.” He said.

By the time of going to print Mbulawa said that the family had not yet finalised the funeral date, but the deceased is expected to be buried this coming weekend at his home Village in Ramokgwebana.

Showtime has learnt that the 45-year-old father of three has had a record of asthma, which may have been the main reason for his short illness. Showtime took to the streets for the public’s reaction to the fallen star and this is what they had to say…..

Ontefetse Madisa

I first saw Nkomo on television, he was a funny character. He always played roles that one could relate to. This is such a loss to the film and entertainment industry. Itshireletse will never be the same.

Joshua Dambe

I used to live with Nkomo, he was loving soul. The one thing that Nkomo could not live without was his computer. The Nkomo that Botswana saw on TV was different from the person I knew, what people do not know about him is that he mentored local hip hop duo Magosi.

I never miss Itshireletse and Nkomo is my favorite of all the cast members. I love the way he acts and I remember like it was yesterday the very first time I watched him on TV (giggles). He was playing the role of a conman. This is sad news indeed.

Nkomo had so much talent, his passing is going to affect Itshireletse because I feel that no one can fill his shoes.
