Gape Motswaledi, speaking at the funeral of his brother revealed that  Gomolemo was an overly worked man who depended on Red Bull energy drinks to keep him alert on the roads, although he continued to experience one mishap after another.

Speaking in Setswana Gape said in a message that was also broadcast live by Gabz FM, “Amogelang gore nako yaga Gomolemo ene e setse e tsile. Gomolemo o nnile le dikotsi tsedi ntsi thata di neng dile masisi...mme ka gore ene e ise e nne nako, Modimo one a mo dibela, fa o sa itse seo ebile o sa leboge Modimo ka go mo falotsa mo dikotsing tseo ga o na tshwanelo ya go ngongoregela se se mo diragaletseng..” (Let us accept that his time to go had arrived. Gomolemo has had many serious road acccidents that were life threatening….but because it was not yet his time to go, God protected him, if you do not accept this fact, and you can’t thank God for having saved him on numerous ocassions, then you do not have a reason to doubt what happened to him”.

The brother continued, “Gomolemo one asa kgweetse koloi, ene e kgweediwa ke modimo hela, ( it is a mystery how he survived his trips behind the wheels). “one a anwa Red Bull, asa robale, le yone Red Bull yabo ya ineela.(He was dependent on Red Bull, he had no rest, eventually even the Red Bull could only do so much). “One a lelekile thomo ya gagwe, one a itima boroko gore a hetse thomo ya gagwe. Thomo ya gagwe oe heditse”( He was in a hurry to finish his calling, he denied himself sleep and rest in order to fullfill his calling.)

Gape noted that there was a time when Gomolemo locked himself in the house for over a week and switched off his cellphones and collapsed but he survived.

He said Gomolemo called on July 28 informing him of his launch on August 30 and that he should arrange with the family to be available to witness the event. He said he became a bit surprised because he knew that Gomolemo never wanted his family to be involved in his political matters as a way of protecting the family.

“The following day his cellphone was off and I heard the news of the car accident on July, 30. That was when I realised he was talking about July 30 instead of August 30,” he said.
