Serowe, Palapye accommodation full for Motswaledi

A random check by Mmegi confirmed that the popular Serowe Hotel had been fully booked for Thursday, since it was announced that the Botswana Movement for Democracy leader had passed away in a car accident.
It is understood that mourners initially booked for Friday only to change the bookings to Thursday after the announcement that Motswaledi’s funeral would be on Friday.
Tshwaragano Hotel also became fully booked the day the funeral date was announced. Honeymoon Hotel and Mabogo Rest Inn were similarly fully booked for Thursday since last week.
In Palapye, Botsalo Hotel was also fully booked for Thursday from Sunday last week while no accommodation has been available at the Majestic Five Hotel since Monday this week.
Mogonono Lodge in Palapye is also fully booked with only a handful of smaller lodges such as Mmasomi and Camp Itumela having a few available rooms by Tuesday afternoon.
According to officials, calls for bookings in both Serowe and Palapye started streaming in immediately after Motswaledi’s death and by Friday last week, some of the facilities were already booked to capacity.
