It was evident that some mourners struggled to come to terms with the politician’s death.  Tempers flared as some attendees wailed, sobbed and others fainted.

The ushers ran around trying to maintain order and manage the crowds. This culminated in a mix up of the planned schedule.

Although the body was scheduled to be viewed from 8am until 11am, the time was extended by an hour and 30 minutes as there were still many people lined up to see the body.

In an act of comradeship to celebrate Motswaledi’s life, UDC members carried his coffin on foot from the church to Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) office.

His party and church members belted out his favourite song, Morena o baetele bana botlhe ba lefifi.  Motswaledi passed away a month after his birthday, which was in June. He died shortly after launching his party in his home village of Serowe, where he was born.

At the time of his death, Motswaledi was expected to be launched as the UDC candidate for Gaborone Central at the end of this month where he would have battled it out with Botswana Congress Party president Dumelang Saleshando and Botswana Democratic Party candidate Rupert Isaac Hambira.
