Teenager charged with three rape counts

In the first count the state alleges that Kagiso Muzila raped a 13-year-old girl at Matsiloje on February 8 this year. On the same day Muzila allegedly raped a nine year old girl of the same village.

According to the police Muzila raped the young girls while he was given accommodation at their parents’ home at around 11pm.

Police say Muzila is known by the parents of the complainants and they usually give him accommodation whenever he is in Matsiloje.

In the third count Muzila is alleged to have raped a 21-year-old woman at Golongwe cattle post on August 2. Inspector James Moikwathai applied for Muzila to be remanded in custody because he has a penchant of having sex with women without their consent.

“We fear that the accused may commit similar crimes if he is granted bail. He has been on the run and we recently arrested him at Sekukwe cattle post. In addition our investigations in to the matters are still continuing,” said Moikwatlhai.

Moikwathai added: “The accused is facing a similar charge in court one before Chief Magistrate Gaedupe Makghato that he recently committed in Tonota whilst on the run from us. Also, we are yet to register another rape case that he recently committed whilst on the run. This clearly shows that the accused is not a good candidate for bail.”

Muzila confirmed his pending rape cases. Siziba remanded the accused in custody to allow police to complete their investigations.
