Launching Pilane, Saleshando said that the BCP Mochudi West parliamentary hopeful is a much more capable man than some people appointed in President Ian Khama’s cabinet.

Saleshando said that the Botswana cabinet is full of people who are not specifically educated for the ministries they are running.

Because of this, Saleshando said that most of Khama’s cabinet ministers are misplaced and that they fail to meet Batswana’s obligations.

He added that the BCP has a class of intellectuals who are ready to draft laws, which can govern the country once they are in power.

He cited the likes of party chair, Motsei Rapelana, and Dr Kesitegile Gobotswang who he said would be his vice president once he assumes the presidency.

Among other things Saleshando decried programmes such as Ipelegeng, Namola Leuba and Green Scorpion, which he said, are Khama’s only sources of employment.

He added that Khama’s government should come up with an alternative, particularly better programmes to empower Batswana, particularly the youth roaming the streets.

Member of Parliament Isaac Mabiletsa said during his recent launch that unemployment should not be prevalent in Botswana where there is a high rate of raw materials produced and yet “Batswana don’t benefit”.

He argued that if finished goods were processed in the country, unemployment could be curbed and manufacturing factories established.

Infrastructure in Kgatleng is a complete fallacy and Khama needs to appoint a finance minister who can manage accounts, not an economist like Kenneth Matambo, he said.

He said Khama’s finance ministers have failed because they are not trained on financial management issues hence they rely on their staff.

Among other things Mabiletsa said that the current regime “ya ga Khama is more into security issues than development”, citing the establishment of the Directorate of Intelligence Services.

He said Khama is only doing this to ensure that he is fully protected.

Saleshando also took a swipe at Khama for his distribution of blankets, fona, diphaphatha and soup, which he said has now become habit.

“My wife is also from here. If you vote BCP and I become the president, obviously she would become the first lady, hence cook soup for you,” he said.

Furthermore, Saleshasndo said that Khama should be advised that, “Pots are not for men, but for women”.

For his part, Pilane urged Bakgatla to vote for him.

He did not hide the fact that he was overwhelmed by the turnout and said that he really appreciated the numbers since most people who attended his launch were the elderly.

Pilane joined the BCP in 2010.

He had contested in the 2009 general elections as an independent candidate, “purely because I wanted to taste and feel election campaigning and build experience in my readiness for the 2014 general elections”.

“I am contesting for the second time, but for the first time under a political party,” he said.

He added that he was attracted by the BCP’s policies, which advocate for the development of the people through available resources.

If elected into office, Pilane said that he would first look at a number of areas, which include the infrastructural development in the district, the construction of the new district hospital, and the construction of the tribal offices.

Also he would attend to the bus rank, construction of storm water and sewage drainage systems, and construction and extension of the Mochudi internal roads.
