KTM Choir, Trinity church to pay tribute to Motswaledi

Motswaledi who will be buried in Serowe on Friday founded the choir in 1993. KTM spokesperson, Thupane Gasejasepe, said they have rehearsed a number of songs for Motswaledi’s send off among them, Kgalemela Setotojane, and Ponatshegelo, which are songs he (Motswaledi) arranged.

Gasejasepe said some of Motswaledi’s favourite songs, which KTM has lined-up include Fa Kena Le Jesu Nka Ya Kae Le Kae and O Se Re Gogele, which Motswaledi wrote and dedicated to the late Sethailwe Monnaapula. He said Motswaledi was very passionate and patriotic about his country and loved the song Diponatshegelo, which loosely translated means that without premonitions the nation never stands firm.

He said many choir members and KTM choir alumni turned up for the rehearsal.

“The group members have been emotionally torn by the passing of Motswaledi and the news came as a shock to us. We tried hard to contain our emotions for the rehearsal, but some of course failed,” he said. The spokesperson added that they have dedicated the few remaining days to mourning and that the memorial service and the funeral will be occasions to celebrate Motswaledi’s life.

He said the last time Motswaledi conducted the choir was in December last year when KTM Choir and KTM alumni sang.

“During the grand finale Motswaledi stood in the middle of the two choirs and made them lead and back interchangeably.  The song was called Morena Re Tlhomogele Pelo.  It was a such a marvelous rehearsal,” he said. Trinity Congregational Church where Motswaledi was a staunch congregant is also preparing his favourite hymns to send him off.

The church’s Minister in Charge, Keleneilwe Kgerethwa, said the songs they are preparing include It Is Well In My Soul and Morena Bona Sefefo.
