The week is expected to include fashion, art, music, food and poetry among others.

One of the event organisers Kgomotso Nyatshane said they have around 15 countries, expected to participate in BCDW.  She said the countries include Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania, Lesotho, France, China, India and Singapore.

Nyatshane stated that the event aims to discover talent in Botswana and give local designers a platform, to showcase their products.

She added that BCDW will offer local designers an opportunity to interact with others from different countries, making it possible for them to network and establish relationships.

As part of promoting the country’s ethos, Nyatshane highlighted that the designers and those taking part in other activities would have to do something in line with showcasing culture.

“This event will give us an opportunity to brand and promote Botswana in Africa and outside Africa through fashion.  It is only befitting that we use it to the best of our abilities as the people that are coming will also get to showcase the cultures of their countries,“ she said.In addition Nyatshane said that they will be serving traditional food and playing traditional music so that the guests can get a feel of Botswana and what it stands for. She said the event would be hosted at Fairgrounds.
