Zebras Reach AFCON Group Stage

The Zebras held Guinea-Bissau to a 1-1 draw in the second leg at the Estadio 24 de Setembro in Bissau on Saturday afternoon to go through to the next round.

Botswana went into the game with a healthy advantage after a brace from Lemponye Tshileretso secured a 2-0 win in the first leg in Gaborone and managed to get the required result away from home.

Ansumane Faty Seidi was on target for the Djurtus, before Jerome Ramatlhakwana scored a later equaliser to kill any chances of a late Guinea-Bissau comeback.

The home side reduced the overall deficit in the 20th minute as Onsumane found the opener to revive their hopes of getting back into the tie.

However, they were unable to find the much-needed second goal and it was actually the visiting side who struck late through Ramatlhakwana to seal a 3-1 victory.

Botswana will take up their spot in Group G alongside North African sides Tunisia and Egypt, as well as Senegal. (Supersport)
