He died in the course of duty

Motswaledi died on Wednesday morning along the Pitsane-Ramatlabama road.  There was not enough parking for the vehicles of the attendees and most of them stood outside the Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) offices during the briefing.

At the briefing, a still shaken UDC president Duma Boko, who broke down at the previous day’s press conference said: “It is a very difficult exercise to speak and consol a nation in shock and pain, when you are in shock and pain”.

Boko said he had the opportunity to view the body of Motswaledi at Goodhope mortuary and it left him in pain.

“He died in the course of duty. He was on UDC duty,” he said. He assured the gathering that he would continue the assignments without fear, fortified by the knowledge that this would not been in vain. He said he was encouraged and strengthened by the prayers and kinds words of UDC followers.

He announced that the UDC has taken a decision to suspend all their activities until his burial. Boko also said the UDC will hold national prayers in the constituencies national wide.

He said the party has also consulted with the family with a view to carrying out assessment of what happened to Motswaledi, so that they can engage experts to carry out investigations. “We implore the nation to join us, professionals to join us.”

“An account will be opened today [Thursday], for the nation so that we can carry out a thorough detailed assessment of what happened to Motswaledi. The comrade we mourn today carried himself in poise and dignity. He has immortalised himself,” said the grief-stricken leader.
