Leshie Lovesong staged her first solo titled Falling in March, which offered the audience an insight into the emotional and intimate journey of falling in love.

The poet’s upcoming second solo act is titled Breathe and is billed to be fashioned around the exercise of breathing in all its forms that include gasping, sighing and panting among others.

Poems to be performed will include Did I Break You, Run Stop Breathe and Did I Break You Too.

She said that the poems are pieces telling the story of lovers standing at a crossroads wearing their hearts on their sleeves.  The lovers wonder if they could have somehow rescued themselves from the experience.

“The idea is that you fell in love, lost control and gave in almost helplessly.  Within that experience however, at some point or the other …you become aware. You focus on the internal. You breathe and reflect,” she explained.

On talking about the theme, Leshie Lovesong stated that it is a nostalgic introspective mix of music, poetry and movement combined.

She added that the set will also be designed in such a way that it will blend in with the theme and what it has to offer.

Furthermore, the wordsmith said that as it is always the case with her performances the delivery of her work would be a combination of different emotions.  These will range from flirty, playful, tense, and teasing.  She added that she would still leave room for imagination.

Sibongile Phiri, Mandisa Mabuthoe, Tefo Paya will support Leshie Lovesong, as well as Cedric on the guitar and Lex the Box Cutter.  The show starts at 7:00 pm.
