Gandari case delays, ATI appears today

Appearing before Chief Magistrate Linah Mokibe, Gandari heard that due to the ongoing amendments to the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act some of the witness statements have to be changed to affidavits and vice versa.

Gandari has been in prison since last year after turning himself in for murdering his wife, Omphile on March 8, 2013.

He allegedly bludgeoned his wife to death with a hammer after the two supposedly had a misunderstanding at their Maipei ward residence in Mmopane. He will appear before court on August 11 when the DPP says the revised statements will be ready.

Meanwhile in a separate case, rapper Atlasaone ‘ATI’ Molemogi who is facing kidnapping charges along with his two accomplices will appear before Extension II Magistrate Joy Brown-Norman today.

Molemogi of O Tsididi fame appeared before court last Friday clad in a blue suit.

The 24-year-old famous for the tear-drop mark on his right cheek allegedly kidnapped Nayang Ngwenya with two others, Godiraone Motswedi and Baboloki Phaga, after a money dispute.

The dispute reportedly erupted after a show organised by Molemogi was held in Serowe in December 24, 2013.

Apart from kidnapping, Ngwenya made claims that the trio tortured him with electric shock from battery terminals.

The men were spotted by a stop and search team at a roadblock along the Molepolole–Gaborone road.

The trio is out on bail.
