This was evidenced by Bulela-Ditswe parliamentary loser Kabo Sebele and his camp's move to boycott the launch of Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) candidate Gaotlhaetse Matlhabaphiri.

Matlhabaphiri and his team of councillors were launched over the weekend at Bophirima Primary School. According to observers, Sebele and company's snub indicate the polarisation and deep divisions within the constituency, which despite the party's efforts to stage manage keep on rearing its ugly head. It is known that Sebele and Matlhabaphiri's camps do not see eye to eye.

When contacted for comment, Sebele played a different tune pointing out they had not attended the launch because they were not invited. “I'm not the only one who was not invited.

“Since we lost in the primary elections some members have decided not to invite us to party activities,' he said.

Meanwhile, another BDP member from Borakanelo ward who had qualms with the way the primary elections were conducted, Moses Joubert, resigned from the party and will contest as an independent candidate.

“It is true that I resigned from BDP last month. I, however, still want to represent people from my ward in the coming elections. Nowadays there is no transparency in the BDP.

“I was cheated during the primary elections and they refused to listen to my appeal without giving any valid reasons,' he said.

Several independent candidates mushroomed from Molepolole North following the Bulela Ditswe elections.

There are currently four independent councils in the ward.
