Speaking at the official cheque hand over ceremony at the companies premises in Gaborone, Time Projects Managing Director (MD) Sandy Kelly commended Gaborone Rotary International Club for partnering with them in raising funds for the MRCB.

Kelly expressed gratitude towards all the participants who took part in the fund raising noting that he was proud that Time Project was able to raise funds for the needy people. He pointed out that the little they donated would make a huge difference to the centre.

“Time Projects wanted to re-establish the Adventure Challenge and in partnership with the Rotary Club we raised funds for the Mochudi Resource Centre for the Blind while promoting healthy fun,” he explained.

He said during the fund raising activities, there was a passion to see Batswana take part in an initiative that is not only beneficial to health and wellness development but also to the cultivation of a culture of fun and adventure within the social and corporate network.

Kelly said the support received was full of variety and the participation exceeded their wildest expectations as they received support from various corporates such as banks, engineers, insurance companies, Parastatals and other sectors. He added that social teams composed by either individuals, families and friends also added spice or relaxation to the competitive atmosphere. “The brave and unbeatable individuals took on the relay challenge completing a 30km mountain biking and 15km trail run. The participants cut across age, nationality and gender.

“The impact of the event has undoubtedly reached more people than those of the Mochudi Resource Centre for the Blind. It is always rewarding when you can give and make a difference while having fun. Over and above fun and fitness growth, it was a privilege to be able to represent the children of the centre in an area beyond their capacity,” Kelly added.

MRCB Director Sophie Moalosi expressed gratitude towards Time Projects’ positive gesture saying that they would use the funds wisely. She said the money would be used for the construction of a rehabilitation centre for the visually changed children who come from different parts of Botswana. She said that those children would be able to attend both pre-school and primary school at the new centre planned to be built at Mochudi.

“The centre currently has 15 children in pre-school and 66 in primary school. This donation could have not been possible without the help of Rotary Club as they introduced us to Time Projects,” she noted. Moalosi told The Monitor that their friendship with Rotary started many years ago after the club donated a Braille Machine in 1972, wardrobes in 2009 and continued with other donations to date. She commended and acknowledged the two companies for their continuous support and urged them and other private companies to keep on assisting the needy.
