TJ will share the stage with Mandisa Mabuthoe, Poet Circle and Motsepe.  TJ does not need any introduction as her fame extends beyond Botswana borders.

She has performed in a number of countries and has bagged a number of awards.  TJ participated in Lancaster University’s Crossing Borders programme and mentored the all-female team of national champions for the British Council’s seven-country Power in the Voice initiative.

On August 28, choral music lovers will be treated to a night of harmonious singing at Mantlwaneng Theatre (Westwood School). The choral show will feature performances by award-winning Gaborone Youth Singers (current winners of the President’s Day competitions), Adante, Sedibeng, and KTM choirs.

GIMC is scheduled to take place from August 25 to August 31, 2014.

Event organiser and Leapfrog managing director Thapelo Pabalinga, said the idea was born after realising that Botswana lacks an event which caters for a vast market.  He explained that prior to introducing GIMC there was no event, which showcases and celebrates the diverse people and talents, which exist locally.

Pabalinga said that Gaborone is made up of people from different backgrounds, with different tastes and interests

He said they wanted to put together an event that will cater for all these people through smaller events under one big umbrella affair.

He said: “That is why we have poetry, choral, jazz, pop music, and a cultural showcase all under the GIMC week.”

“With our diverse offering the people are spoilt for choice and can pick and choose what best suits their interest, and I guarantee that everyone will find something in our line-up that speaks to them,” he said.

Pabalinga added that with the diversity in sound and performances of the choirs, music lovers are ‘definitely’ in for a thrill.
