Pickpocket breaks down in court

The complainant caught him red-handed and a mob dragged Kudumane to the Borakanelo Police Station where he was taken into custody. 

In his defense, unemployed Kudumane told court he stole the money, as he has to support his girlfriend and their baby. He pleaded with the court to be lenient when sentencing him adding that if he is imprisoned his girlfriend and baby would suffer.

Kooitsewe accepted his mitigation and pardoned him since he is a first time offender. Kudumane was slapped with a sentence of four strokes on the buttocks.

The money was returned to Kebualemang who said she had pitied the accused and resolved to forgive him but changed her mind after he threatened to kill her.

She lambasted young people who roam the streets stealing instead of working to earn a living.
