Mmegi has been informed that specially nominated councillor, John Mazabathi Mokandla, has now replaced Seretse, who was suspended last week.

Yesterday, Mokandla confirmed that he is now the campaign manager for the constituency where the BDP will be represented by incumbent legislator, Robert Masitara.  “I will bring the constituency together so that we win it. We have not been visible in the area and people will see us now,” Mokandla said.

Sources within the constituency said the BDP national campaign manager, Alec Seametso, whom the party assigned to resolve Gaborone Bonnington North issues, also ordered that Mokandla should take responsibility of the party vehicle for that constituency.

Seametso is also understood to have ordered all candidates from the constituency to meet with Mokandla at least once a week.

“Seametso wants updates on their campaigns. It was found out that some councillors had been campaigning for themselves only without helping Masitara. That’s the reason why some put only their posters up, leaving out Masitaras. The campaign manager is tasked with bringing peace amongst candidates as well,” revealed the source. Efforts to contact Seretse, Masitara and Seametso were unsuccessful as their phones went unanswered. The BDP has faced troubles in Gaborone Bonnington North for some time, with reports of bad blood between Masitara and his councillors.
